Nilar Lao Vargas D.D.S



Dr. Vargas graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Yangon Institute of Dental Medicine, Myanmar in 1988. Upon graduation, she successfully competed 2 years of general practice residency at the Yangon Institute of Dental Medicine and Yangon General Hospital in Myanmar.  From 1994-1997, Dr. Vargas attended the School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree.


Since then, Dr. Vargas has practiced in both Katy, Texas and northern California.  Following graduation, she worked as an associate dentist at Southern Dental Associates in Houston. Then in 2000, she moved to northern California and worked as an associate dentist at Dr. Robert McKethen D.D.S. In 2006, Dr. Vargas returned to Katy, Texas and returned to Southern Dental Associates as practiced as an associate dentist 6 more years. Since the Franz Road Famil Dental has opened in 2013, Dr. Vargas has been practicing in this location and serving katy area family dentistry needs.

Dr. Vargas is an active member of the American Orthodontic Society and Academy of General Dentistry, she has participated as a Pre-fellow at the Academy of General Dentistry with over 1000 hours of continuing education. 




Liji Mathew D.M.D


Dr. Liji Mathew completed her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree with honors from Temple University, Maurice Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, PA in 2019. Dr. Mathew obtainer her Bachelor of Dental surgery in 2004 from Christian Dental College and Hospital, Punjab, India. She achieved her Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Prosthodontics and Implantology in 2003 with Gold Medal Awards from Amrita Institute of Medicinal Science, Kochi, India.

She has been actively involved in academic, research and clinical aspects of dentistry serving as teaching faculty in dental school in Restorative, Prosthodontics and Endodontics Dentistry department in India and also involved in Oral Pathology research at University of Michigan in 2008. In 2014, she became a fellow member of International Commission of Oral Implantology after completing preceptorship training in Oral Implantology in UTHSCSA.


She has participated in voluntary dental services to homeless, nursing home, mentally challenged and hospitalized patients in India. She was born in city of Kochi, Karela, India. She now lives in Katy area with her husband and three children, Johan, Sarah and Hannah.

Her other interests are painting, involvement and leadership in dental professional association, church activities, volunteering in community activities and spending time with family.
